The Federal Government had decided on few long term goals for its economy and its environment- one of them being the Cash for Caulkers program and its success. This program’s success hugely depends on the acceptability of the program and a smooth execution of the same. Many corporate construction companies have already started improvising on their building standards and have incorporated Home Star energy products. This is now a part of their corporate social responsibility.
However, this practice has to be adopted by the homeowners in particular. Majority of the greenhouse gas emissions come from residential apartments and homes. And hence to motivate the residents towards energy efficiency and clean environment, the Government had decided to provide them with monetary benefits in the form of tax rebates and subsidies. The homeowners have to either install Home Star products or initiate a home improvement project in order to qualify for the program.
The major renovation jobs would be replacement of the doors and windows, replacing or repairing the cooling and heating systems, improving the siding and roofing, replacing the duct system and many other related remodeling jobs. This is also known to be a very impulsive program benefiting a lot of homeowners and encouraging energy efficiency at the same time.
